The tech world moves too fast

The tech world moves too fast

The tech world moves so fast.

It feels like there’s a new JavaScript library to learn every week.

But I started as a Ruby on Rails developer all the way back in 2005.

It was the big hype technology of 2007.

It was old news by 2011.

But I still make a decent living writing Rails code.

So if you ever feel like the world of technology is moving too fast.

Hype wave after hype wave after hype wave.

If you're struggling to keep up.

React, angular, vue.  Svelte, gatsby, netlify.

Just remember this.

Your clients don't care.

They hired you to make their business better.

They hired you to solve their problems.

They hired you because they wanted a solution

So find out what they want, how much it's worth to them and what the risks associated with the project are.

And deliver the results they want.

Then the tech doesn’t matter.

The hours don’t matter.

How much you charge doesn’t matter.

And the clients will love you.
