Are you the type of person who makes New Year's Resolutions?
Are you the type of person who makes them and then finds that they're completely forgotten about by March?
There's a reason for that.
It's because a year is too long for our minds to grasp.
We can't hold things in our heads for that long.
Because December is so far away, we can put off making the changes we need to make.
Because we've still got 11 months to go, there's no urgency to what we have to do.
So if this is a problem, stop thinking in 12 month spans. Instead, think of 12 weeks.
Take your 12 month goals and squeeze them into 12 weeks.
Break your 52 weekly targets and squash them down into 50 daily targets.
12 weeks is long enough to make significant changes, but short enough that the end is always in sight.
Working on something every day will build the habit.
And that's what gets things done.
