How to set goals for your business

Set goals they say. It gives you motivation. It focuses the mind. It's what you need to succeed.

But what should your goals be?

Bad goals are probably worse than no goals.

The reason for that is because if you set yourself a goal that you know is frankly impossible, that motivation that the goal gives you goes out of the window. What's the point of striving for something that you know you won't reach.

Instead, you need to make it something meaningful. Something that will be a stretch, but not impossible.

I want to go from £100,000 revenue to £10,000,000 revenue in one year?

Never going to happen.

I want to go from 100 customers to 200 customers in three months?

Might be tough, but it's not impossible.

Take action: What are your goals for the next three months? Are they realistic?
