So one of your goals is to procrastinate less and get more done.
Stop wasting time on Hacker News, or Instagram or Twitter or Reddit or whatever your particular vice is. It might sound hard, but it's actually easy.
First thing is to deal with your phone. Stick it on Do Not Disturb. Or go into your notification settings and switch off the alerts for the apps that take up all your time. I said it was easy. I lied. You'll probably get some sort of minor anxiety attack as you do this.
Second thing is to sort your time out. Get a timer. Set it to 50 minutes. Start working. Every time you think "I'll just check the news headlines", remind yourself that you've got a break coming up soon and you can do it then. When your timer goes off, reset it to 10 minutes. You've now got ten minutes to waste on your favourite time sinks. And then repeat.
Take action: Almost everything can wait for 50 minutes. Once you get used to the rhythm, it works amazingly.
