60, 36, 12, 3, 1 and a quarter

60, 36, 12, 3, 1 and a quarter.

That’s how many months ahead you should be planning.

You need to know what you’re doing this week. A week is a fantastic rhythm to set within your business - a good opportunity to reflect and redirect before things get out of hand.

You need to know what you want to achieve by the end of the month. A lot can happen in a month. Make sure it’s what you want.

You need to know where you want to be in 3 months’ time. That’s a quarter of a year - you should be making really good progress towards …

Your one year goal. If you want to make big leaps forwards, you need to think in terms of where you want to be this time next year.

But if you want to build a better life for yourself, you want to be thinking about the bigger picture. In three years, you can turn everything around and live in a whole new way.

So where do you want to be in five years time?

Start from there, figure out what steps you need to have completed in three years to get there, then work back to one year, each quarter, each month and down to the weeks.

Because you may change direction along the way, but it’s always good to have the destination in mind.
